$49.99 for all releases under current major version number. There are separate transaction requirements for Mac, windows and iOS, oddly. Though given the release cycle is so long, I don’t feel robbed.
It’s an IDE for prose. It’s an all in one writing environment with research and editing and exporting of ePub/docx/pdf. It really is a one stop book writing app.
It’s a great application that has lots of good ideas and useful tools. Though some people don’t get along with it, those people should use Microsoft Word (365)
The benefit to Scrivener over other applications is the way it’s built to solve writer problems. It has excellent word tracking, typewriter scrolling, tracks words per day, and even has snapshots.
There is a binder on the right side of the screen which acts as navigation and organisation, the main window can be split for multi-view of a single page or multiple documents, its very customisable, though ugly. also, there are some very nice language and notation tools that is hides, doing a terrible job of exposing them to the user.
Its hard to get into, but once you do, it maybe the perfect writing tool for you.
